This Sweet and Spicy Vegan BBQ Sauce is tangy and sweet, and contains less than a fourth of the sugar in most store brand sauces. It's also really easy to make!
2tablespoonsdijon mustard - whole grain mustard also works
1teaspoonsoy sauce or tamari
2tablespoonsblack molasses
1/2teaspoongarlic powder
1/2teaspoonSpanish paprika
1/2teaspoononion powder
2tablespoonscoconut sugar
1teaspoonSriracha or hot pepper sauce
1/2teaspoonvegan liquid smoke - optional
Instructions
In a medium saucepan over low heat, all ingredients and stir with a whisk until combined. Warm on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat. Transfer to an airtight glass container and put in the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour to cool.
Notes
*Add more hot sauce or coconut sugar as desired. *This recipes makes 1 1/4 cups or 20 (2 tablespoon) servings. It will keep in the fridge for up to a week in an airtight container.
