Happy New Year! I hope you had a fabulous holiday season and are ready to start the year anew.

Have you heard of the “one word” concept? To sum it up, you choose 1 word that you will focus on all year long. It’s a word that represents your purpose- your vision for change. It’s hopefully something you can look back on at the end of 2017 and realize you lived up to that word.

If you had to choose just one word, what would it be? I’m still soul searching and I have it narrowed down to a couple words but I’m still waiting for the aha moment. I’ll keep you posted.

Speaking of the new year, I love this time because there is so much promise and possibility in the air. The gyms are packed, people are getting serious about losing holiday/winter weight and overall, making plans for a brighter future. But sadly, those plans usually die out before the end of January. My goal for myself and for you is to keep it going! So let’s get intentional about what kind of year we want to have and make it happen. And if it’s focused on getting healthier, I’m here to help.

To start, I created this easy, healthy sweet snack- Cinnamon Almond Date Bites. I just love these little guys. They are packed with cinnamon, chocolate and NO added sugar (only the sweetness of dates). It’s a healthy guilt-free snack when you’re running out the door, or a better choice when you are craving something sweet.

To make this recipe, first add the oats and the cocoa powder to a food processor. Blend until broken into smaller pieces. Then add all the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. The mixture will be crumbly.

Next, using your hands, form into balls (about 1-2 inches in diameter) and place on a plate or in an airtight container. They should be firm. If they are not sticking together, you may add a little more almond butter and blend again.

Finally, store these Cinnamon Almond Date Bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

  • THESE ARE INCREDIBLE!!! Definitely addicting, Christin was right about that! I absolutely love these, especially during the holidays when my sweet tooth is the most tempted. With these, I do not feel guilty for indulging said tooth, and I certainly don’t get that fatigued “blecchhhh what did I doooo” feeling after eating other desserts loaded with sugar, cream, etc. I actually find the opposite true– they are energizing– great for breakfast with my smoothie and also for that mid afternoon snack. Oooh and these would be perfect to bake for Christmas too! Give to your family/friends in those pretty little tins! Ohh and better yet, you can make them along with her carrot cake bites and those no-bake coconut bites!! Those bites are equally as amazing by the way!
